  • Food Quality Assurance Officer

Fulltime / Permanent

Duties will include:

  • Work with each business area to put in place good systems to ensure the business meets all HACCP and Food Safety standards
  • Visit and assess the wholesale, retail and restaurant areas of the company to ensure HACCP records are maintained and all food safety systems and related information is kept up-to-date and functioning efficiently
  • Proactively work with each department to remove products, when alerts are received
  • Meet with required bodies e.g. HSE and respond to audits or related requests, when required
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of related Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the industry
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for staff on food safety practices.
  • Educate food handlers about hygiene, proper storage, and cross-contamination prevention.
  • Develop educational materials and guidelines for compliance.
  • Initiate recalls or withdrawals for unsafe food products.
  • Identify and evaluate risks associated with food production or processing.
  • Develop strategies to minimize risks and implement preventative measures.
  • Monitor food safety trends and update protocols accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Third level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Proven food safety experience in a multi-site environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Problem solving skills
  • Auditing skills
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Full clean drivers licence
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills to identify risks and compliance issues.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with business owners and training staff.
  • Problem-solving abilities to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.

Educational Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Certifications (Preferred): HACCP Certification, ServSafe, or ISO 22000 Certification.
  • 2 years previous experience
