As the company continues to secure a strong pipeline of prestigious projects nationwide, they are looking to appoint an experienced and commercially driven Senior Estimator to play a key role within their pre-construction team. This position is critical to the continued success of the business, helping secure profitable work through accurate estimating, strategic risk assessment, and close collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
The Role
As Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of the full tendering process, ensuring competitive, commercially sound submissions while working closely with directors, project teams, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to produce accurate cost plans.
- Manage the full tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
- Identify project risks and commercial opportunities, incorporating these into pricing strategies.
- Obtain, assess, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to clarify project scope and technical requirements.
- Present tender reviews, recommendations, and commercial analysis to senior management.
- Maintain and develop estimating databases, benchmarking information, and historical cost records.
- Mentor and support junior estimators while contributing to the continued development of the estimating function.
- Attend pre-tender, post-tender, and client meetings as required.
About You
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years’ experience in an estimating role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of the Irish construction market, including subcontractors, suppliers, and procurement routes.
- Demonstrated success in delivering competitive tenders across multiple project sectors.
- Excellent understanding of construction methodologies, materials, specifications, and Irish Building Regulations.
- Strong commercial awareness with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
