Job Specification – Site Engineer Location: Portlaoise, Co. Laois

Project: Large-scale commercial building project currently underway in Portlaoise
Role Type: Full-time, permanent

Role Overview

We are looking for a Site Engineer to join one of our client’s site teams, a leading main contractor, on a major commercial project. This is a full time, permanent position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your career on a technically challenging and rewarding project.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate site records, drawings, and documentation
  • Interpret and communicate complex plans and technical specifications to site teams
  • Manage, monitor, and coordinate site works in line with contract documents
  • Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, architects, planners, and the wider project team
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractor works and direct labour on a daily basis
  • Organise site logistics and plant use to maximise efficiency
  • Oversee quality control, BCAR compliance, and site health and safety implementation
  • Conduct regular safety checks and ensure all activities adhere to regulatory standards
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges and site-based issues promptly
  • Plan work schedules to meet key project milestones and deadlines
  • Ensure works meet specification and programme while maintaining high safety and quality standards Duties and responsibilities may vary and are not limited to those listed above.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Relevant qualification in Construction Management or equivalent discipline.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated individual with a proactive approach to work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects from inception through to completion.
  • Self-motivated, with strong initiative and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth technical and practical knowledge of construction processes, standards, and the regulatory environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and foster positive working relationships
