Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager to join one of our client’s project teams, a leading main contractor, on a construction project in Dublin.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction professional to take a key role in the successful delivery of a high-quality project.
The role is suitable for an experienced Assistant Project Manager looking to take the next step in their career, or an established Project Manager seeking a new opportunity. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, site teams, subcontractors, consultants and commercial teams to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support and/or take responsibility for the successful delivery of the project from commencement through to completion and handover.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and senior management team to coordinate all aspects of project delivery.
- Assist with the management and coordination of the project team, including Site Managers, Engineers, Foremen and other site personnel.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Assist with the development, management and monitoring of the construction programme.
- Monitor project progress and ensure key milestones and completion dates are achieved.
- Identify potential programme delays and work with the project team to implement appropriate solutions.
- Work closely with the commercial team to monitor project budgets, costs, variations and overall commercial performance.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, contractual requirements and quality standards.
- Assist with the management of project resources, including labour, materials, plant and subcontractors.
- Maintain strong working relationships with the client, design team, consultants and other key stakeholders.
- Attend and contribute to regular project, progress and coordination meetings.
- Prepare and provide regular project progress and performance reports.
- Coordinate design information and ensure technical information is available in line with the construction programme.
- Manage and track RFIs, technical submittals, design queries and project documentation.
- Review drawings, specifications and technical information and assist with resolving any issues efficiently.
- Identify and manage project risks and support the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures.
- Assist with procurement requirements and ensure materials and subcontractor packages are coordinated in line with the project programme.
- Oversee and support quality control, inspections, snagging and project close-out activities.
- Assist with the management of commissioning, completion and final handover.
- Implement and maintain the company’s Safety Management System throughout the project.
- Implement and maintain the company’s Quality Management System.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation, building regulations, company procedures and quality requirements.
- Promote a positive health & safety culture across the project.
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to members of the project team.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Senior Engineer or in a similar construction management position.
- Relevant Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working for a Main Contractor is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and project delivery.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
- Good understanding of construction programmes, budgets and commercial requirements.
- Strong technical knowledge with the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience managing or supporting RFIs, technical submittals, design coordination and project documentation.
- Excellent organisational, planning and time-management skills.
- Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
- Good commercial and contractual awareness.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to identify project risks and resolve issues effectively.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple project priorities.

- Strong understanding of health & safety, quality and regulatory requirements within the construction industry.
