Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Deputy Retail Manager to join one of our client’s established retail teams in Dublin.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced retail professional to take the next step in their career within a busy and fast-paced food retail environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Store Manager, supporting the day-to-day running of the store, leading and developing the team and ensuring customers receive an excellent standard of service at all times.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager with the overall day-to-day operation of the store.
- Take full responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Lead, manage and motivate the retail team to deliver excellent customer service and achieve daily operational priorities.
- Act as a key point of contact for colleagues, providing guidance and support with day-to-day queries.
- Ensure a consistently high standard of customer service is maintained throughout the store.
- Lead by example and create a positive, professional and welcoming environment for both customers and colleagues.
- Support the training, coaching and development of team members to maximise performance.
- Coordinate daily staff activities and ensure the team is effectively organised to meet customer and operational requirements.
- Oversee stock replenishment and ensure excellent product availability throughout the store.
- Maintain high standards of merchandising, product presentation and shelf availability.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with stock control, rotation and inventory management.
- Review relevant reports, systems and performance information to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Support the achievement of store sales targets and other key performance indicators.
- Ensure promotional displays, pricing and product information are accurate and maintained to a high standard.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures and other key store management responsibilities.
- Deal professionally and effectively with customer queries, feedback and complaints.
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout the store.
- Ensure all company policies, procedures and operational standards are consistently followed.
- Support compliance with relevant health & safety, food safety and retail regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the Store Manager, colleagues and wider management team regarding store performance and operational matters.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar retail management or supervisory position.
- Previous experience within a supermarket, grocery or food retail environment would be highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Proven ability to motivate, coach and develop a retail team.
- Strong retail sales and customer service experience.
- Excellent understanding of day-to-day store operations.
- Experience with stock management, replenishment and merchandising.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high store standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced retail environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively on own initiative.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A genuine interest in food and delivering an excellent customer experience.
- Flexibility to work across a retail schedule, including weekdays and weekends.
