Site Engineer

We are currently recruiting experienced Site Engineers for a major refurbishment and expansion project within a high-security, live public infrastructure environment.

This opportunity is with a well-established Irish main contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex, high-specification projects across the public and private sectors. The company is known for its strong engineering-led approach, disciplined project delivery, and ability to execute technically challenging builds in constrained and operational environments.

With a proven track record in delivering large-scale government, institutional, and commercial developments, the contractor offers a structured, well-supported site environment where quality, safety, and precision are non-negotiable.

This is not a “hand-holding” environment — it suits engineers who want responsibility, exposure to complex sequencing, and the opportunity to develop quickly on technically demanding projects.

Project Scope

  • Major refurbishment and expansion of a live public sector facility
  • Delivery of a new multi-storey office development
  • Demolition and replacement of existing structures within an operational site
  • Works carried out in a high-security, restricted-access environment
  • Complex phased construction with tight coordination requirements

Role Overview

The Site Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of the project through accurate setting out, technical coordination, and on-site control. You will work closely with an experienced site team to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full setting out using GPS, total station, and laser levels
  • Interpretation of drawings, specifications, and technical information
  • Coordination of subcontractors and trade packages on site
  • Management of QA documentation, as-built records, and reporting
  • Monitoring quality and ensuring compliance with design and tolerances
  • Supporting short-term planning and programme delivery
  • Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and site security protocols
  • Liaising with design teams, consultants, and client representatives
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues early in the construction process

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a Site Engineer role
  • Strong technical setting out and surveying ability
  • Experience on building or civil engineering projects
  • Exposure to live, phased, or restricted-access environments is a strong advantage
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site coordination
  • High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate within a structured site team

What’s on Offer

  • Opportunity to join a highly regarded Irish main contractor with a strong delivery reputation
  • Long-term position on a major, high-profile public infrastructure project
  • Exposure to complex engineering, sequencing, and high-security construction environments
  • Clear career progression within a growing project pipeline
  • Strong site support structure and experienced leadership team
  • Competitive salary and full package depending on experience
  • Opportunity to work on technically challenging, career-defining projects
