Site Manager – Kildare

Role Overview

The Site Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of construction projects from site establishment through to final completion and handover. This role requires strong leadership across all on-site activities, ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, budget, design requirements, and the highest standards of health, safety, and quality.

You will play a key role in coordinating all site operations, managing subcontractors, and driving productivity while maintaining a strong focus on sequencing, logistics, and finish quality. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will ensure smooth project delivery and proactive resolution of site issues.


Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Take full responsibility for on-site health & safety compliance and leadership
  • Ensure full implementation and adherence to company HSEQ systems and procedures
  • Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all trades and personnel on site
  • Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with statutory regulations and best practice

Site Management & Delivery

  • Manage day-to-day site operations from set-up through to completion and handover
  • Plan and oversee site logistics, including access, deliveries, storage, and traffic management
  • Coordinate labour, subcontractors, plant, and materials to maintain programme performance
  • Monitor site productivity and resolve issues that may impact progress or quality
  • Ensure effective sequencing of works, particularly during finishing stages, to avoid delays and rework

Quality Control

  • Drive high standards of workmanship across all trades
  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance procedures and inspections
  • Manage snagging, de-snagging, and handover processes efficiently
  • Work closely with commercial and design teams to ensure buildability and compliance with specifications

Programme & Coordination

  • Work in close collaboration with the Project Manager to deliver works in line with the construction programme
  • Identify risks to programme and implement mitigation strategies early
  • Coordinate subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow and minimal disruption between trades
  • Maintain clear short-term planning and daily/weekly progress tracking

Leadership & Communication

  • Lead, manage, and motivate site teams, including forepersons and subcontractors
  • Foster strong working relationships across all stakeholders on site
  • Chair and attend site meetings, progress reviews, and coordination meetings
  • Ensure clear communication of expectations, sequencing, and site standards

Commercial Awareness

  • Monitor site resources, labour levels, plant usage, and general site overheads
  • Support efficient use of resources to avoid waste and unnecessary cost escalation
  • Report progress, risks, and site performance accurately and in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a Site Manager or similar leadership role within construction
  • Proven track record delivering commercial, residential, industrial, refurbishment or fit-out projects
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, especially finishing stages and handovers
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety legislation and site compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate large site teams effectively
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and drive programme delivery
